More photos of the wartime Ford canteens
Leading on from the first page of E83W canteen photos, is this further selection.
Thanks to Clive Law, who ok'd using this photo he took of the surviving food van in Canada.
Below are some period photos, sent over by Les, showing this kind of wartime van in use during WW2...top stuff, thanks for them!
Its interesting to see the different colour schemes of these vans. The dark coloured one above is marked up as a NAAFI Refreshment Van, whereas the one in the picture below is more like the surviving van in Canada.
The photo below shows a somewhat stern looking Queen Mary inspecting a YMCA Mobile Canteen, donated by Ceylon by the looks of it.
In this picture is a line-up of very smart Fordson mobile canteens, decked out in Church Army colours. Note again the differences in coachwork between the different examples of canteen bodywork featured above.
