A Luton bodied E83W appears
Photos sent in by Peter in October 2005.
Peter, who bought one of my project pickups a little while back, sent in these pics showing an unusual Luton bodied E83W that his son has just bought. The coachwork looks to be a quality job, and will be a real bobby dazzler once restored, it looks like an excellent starting point. Does anyone have any history for OYC 717??

As advertised
Judging by the photos, some restoration work has already been done on this Luton body Thames.

As found
Time to collect the Thames - nice find!

Rear corner view
I wonder if this could have been a mobile shop at one time? the panelled in sides suggest a possible use as a shop, or library even?

Rear corner view
Neither front wheel is a Ford pattern, either other wheels have been found to fit, or else the hubs have been modified.

Front corner
The bodywork looks to be very sound indeed.

Back home
The other bonnet panel is inside the van. I like the neat mirror arm mounted on the drivers door hinge.

Rear interior photo
The other bonnet panel is inside the van. I like the neat mirror arm mounted on the drivers door hinge. No passenger seat, and one very comfortable looking seat for the driver.

Rear view
This arrangement of back doors must have made loading slightly awkward, unless they've been changed at some time? normal side-hinged doors would be much easier to work with, if loads were regularly carried I'd have thought.
Thanks a lot for sending those pics over!! Peter's brother Alan has just bought an E83W van too.
