Pierce Brosnan on board his E83W in Evelyn

E83W hits the big screen.

A pickup features in a Pierce Brosnan film!

My neighbour, knowing my interest in all things 10cwt, loaned me a film he'd been given at Christmas, called 'Evelyn'.

He knew I'd be interested, as Fords feature regularly throughout, and my other half would also be interested as it had one of her favourite film starts in it (hmmm).

Makes a change from seeing PB driving around in a 007 DB5 Aston Martin I suppose..

The film is largely about a working guy in the 1950s or 1960s who is trying to get access to his daughter, after having split with his missus. He's fond of the occasional Guinness (the film is set in Ireland after all), so getting access to his offspring takes some time.

Throughout the film, the little brown E83W regularly appears, speeding along with a ladder on the top. So it pays to keep your eyes open during the film for an appearance of this truck. Equally a number of other sidevalves have cameo roles either parked up in driveways, or scooting past, including 103Es and at least one 5cwt Fordson that springs to mind.

I did wonder if perhaps an Irish Ford club had been approached to supply some of the vehicles?

Overall not a bad film, made all the more appealing by the use of a 10cwt.

Does anyone know more about the actual pickup used in filming? the registration looks like '24 5284' or '24 9284'. Judging by the closeup of the cab, with brown paint over the screen frame and rubber, it may have had a temporary paintjob during filming, so if there are any photos out there showing the pickup in its normal colour scheme, I'd be interested to see them.

Are there any other E83W film stars out there that should be shown here? Please get in touch if you know of any, ta.
